Buying a boat/yacht on AdamSea is simple and easy. Here, you can see boats, vessels, watercraft, pleasure craft, yachts, pontoons, fishing boats and many many more. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all the options. As a first time boat buyer, you may not know exactly what you want and that is okay. Here are some tips to help you figure it out.

What Are You Going To Do?

What kind of boating do you, and possibly your family, want to do? This is the number one question to narrowing your search.  For instance:

  • If you want to waterski and wakeboard, select a boat, like a cruiser, with powerful motors that go as fast as 120 miles per hour.
  • If you are going to relax on a lake, a pontoon or larger fishing boat is ideal for floating parties or easy cruises.
  • If you are going to fish, make sure the boat has a large, open cockpit for movement, a baitwell, fishing gear and any passengers that may accompany you.
  • If you are going to travel the ocean blue, you will want a large cruiser or yacht with extra amenities and living space.

How Much Time Do You Want To Spend?

Boats require a lot of time in care and in preparation for use.  If you only have a little time for boating or fishing in your busy schedule, picking a trailerable boat, which is normally a vessel under 32 feet, is the way to go to save dock fees. If you plan on going out often, you can use wet docking. This also frees you up to select a bigger boat.

Large chunks of time cruising the water or moving from destination to destination requires a vessel big enough for a head, or bathroom, on board. And if time and money are no question, there’s nothing like a large luxury yacht with all the bells and whistles.

How Much Can You Spend?

But for most of us, money is an issue, and you want to be sure you select a boat you can afford. That means not just the purchase price with inspection and shipping but all the other things that come with boat ownership.  Statistics show that the purchase price is only 60% of what you will spend in purchasing a vessel. The other fees include:

Because a boat is such a significant investment, take your time and make sure that you not only select a vessel that fits your needs, but that you absolutely cannot live without.

AdamSea's First Time Yacht Buyer's Guide will assist you to figure out the kind of yacht ideally suited for you. Select from an impressive range of sailing vessels, luxury yachts, other watercrafts and marine accessories.
